The Prideful Peter: Learning to be humble.

 

                                         THE PRIDEFUL PETER: LEARNING TO BE                                                       HUMBLE

Some time ago, there was a man named Peter who was known for his pride and certainty. He was so persuaded of his capacities that he felt like he could do any deception whatsoever. He met his friend Henry as he was walking through the neighborhood one day. Although Henry was extremely intelligent, he never extolled his capabilities.

Henry and Peter walked together, catching up on each other's lives. They noticed that it was getting darker outside as they walked. Henry suggested that they eat something at a restaurant. They went to a nearby restaurant after Peter agreed. They ate to their hearts' content after placing their orders for meals.

While they were trusting that the bill will show up, Peter chose to have some good times with Henry. "Tell me, what are the things you cannot do?" he asked Henry. I'm confident I can accomplish those tasks. Henry replied, "Pay the restaurant bill," with a grin. The only thing I can't do is that. Therefore, now do it for me.

Peter was shocked and unsure of what to say. He realized that Henry had set him up when the bill for the restaurant arrived. The entire bill had to be paid by Peter himself. That evening, he was not only wiser but also sadder when he got home. He had learned that boasting about oneself can result in embarrassing situations, which was a valuable lesson.

Peter never made any boasts about his abilities after that. Being modest and humble was more important, he had realized. Peter was thankful to have Henry as a friend who could teach him such an important life lesson, and they continued to be close friends.
